北京大学生命科学学院教授,博士生导师。2007年到2009年在加州大学圣地亚哥分校进行高访研究。2009年入选教育部“新世纪优秀人才支持计划”。课题组主要研究方向是通过遗传、生化和分子生物学等手段发掘调控叶片发育和侧枝形成的重要基因及其保守分子机理和调控网络,研究叶片等器官形态适应性的分子机制,探寻叶片和侧枝进化关系的分子证据。已在Plant Cell、PNAS、Cell Res、New Phytol等国际主流期刊上发表论文30多篇。参与主译了植物科学优秀教材《植物生物学》。

科研领域描述
植物叶片发育保守转录调控分子机制的研究:
   叶片是光合作用的主要器官。叶片在地球上的出现彻底改变了地球表面和大气的环境,也改变了植物和动物的进化方向。早在300多年前,德国著名的自然科学家兼哲学家戈特弗里德•威廉•莱布尼茨 (Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz) 就指出世界上没有两片完全相同叶片的自然现象,叶片形态的多样性使其成为重要的分类依据,但叶片也有统一性,比如很多叶片都是平整的。叶片如何进化而来?叶片如何根据不同的环境形成多种多样的大小和形态?又怎样形成平整的结构以有效捕获光能来进行光合作用?这些科学问题还远没有研究清楚。本课题组的研究方向主要是根据这些科学问题,以模式植物拟南芥和水稻为材料,利用遗传学、分子生物学和生物化学的方法,寻找和克隆调控叶片发育相关的重要保守关键基因,研究重要转录因子TCP、EXB蛋白家族、转录抑制因子TIE蛋白家族以及与染色质重塑因子相关的TPL/TPRs蛋白家族在调控叶片和其他器官发育中的保守分子机制,完善调控叶片发育的分子调控网络,为叶片与侧枝间的进化关系提供可能的分子证据,加深理解叶片形成平整但不同的形态和大小的分子机理,为通过分子设计育种改造植物株型和叶片大小和形态来提高农作物产量提供理论基础。
